In August 2025 our founder, James, discovered STEM Racing when looking for work experience in Formula 1. Over the summer he learnt CAD software (Fusion360) before starting the team officially in September 2025.

In September 2025, Sam and Henry joined as co-founders forming our core team. In this month we also gained permission to start a school STEM Racing team.

In October 2025 we had a very productive month, we learnt Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software and aerodynamic concepts to test our ever developing car designs. We also agreed on a team name, logo and brand identity - Carbon Vortex Racing.

In November 2025, we created a wooden prototype launch system as a cheaper alternative to the official version. We also organised a test launch event after school to present to our head teacher.
We contacted Blackpool and Fylde College who kindly offered support with CNC of our official chassis, and invited us to attend their local schools STEM Racing competition to be held in March 2026.
In December 2025, we successfully demonstrated our prototype launch system in school.

In January 2026, we launched our website to show to sponsors.
On top of this, having made massive strides in setting up our school's first STEM Racing team, we were invited to do a Dragons' Den-style presentation to our school's Senior Leadership Team. We managed to gain financial support and achieve official 'school club' status.

In February 2026, we completed production of our initial simple, fully regulation-compliant car in advance of our first scheduled competition in March.
